# Orbit — One goal. Work across apps.

Orbit is our next computer-use model. Our goal is state-of-the-art screen understanding and action planning for work that spans apps, sources, and many steps.

## Keep the goal in view. Carry the work through.

A computer-use model needs to understand the screen, choose an action, and respond to what changes. Orbit is our research into making that loop work across a longer task.

### A model for doing the work.

We want Orbit to navigate interfaces, use the right tools, and continue across changing screens — a model that can work toward a goal across several applications. Research sources can inform those decisions; the central job is choosing and carrying out the next computer action.

### From sources to a finished result.

Imagine gathering references, comparing their contents, writing a useful summary, and saving it in the right place. Orbit's direction is to carry that sequence through, with sources attached to the result — work progressing from a request to an output without a review gate after every routine step.

### An ambition we will measure.

State-of-the-art computer use is our goal for Orbit. The model is in research preview; we have not publicly released a checkpoint, a runtime, or benchmark results. We plan to measure completed tasks, grounding accuracy, speed, and recovery when a screen or action changes, and to publish results with their evaluation conditions.

## A wider view. Work that moves forward.

- **Computer use at the core** — screen understanding and action planning across longer tasks.
- **Context when it helps** — use sources to inform actions and support the final result.
- **Measure task completion** — evaluate finished work, speed, and recovery; results will follow the research.

## FAQ

**How is Orbit different from Atom?** Atom locates a single control from the current screen. Orbit's research covers understanding and planning a sequence of computer actions toward a broader goal.

**Can I use Orbit today?** Orbit is in research preview. Email [vivek@barestate.xyz](mailto:vivek@barestate.xyz) to request access. [Atom](https://barestate.xyz/atom) is live in Barestate Orb.

**How will progress be shared?** We will publish research milestones and measured results — tasks, conditions, and limits of each evaluation.
