# Private AI — Barestate

A chat workspace where you inspect the exact request a provider would receive before anything is sent.

## How it works

1. Choose a model route — Barestate hosted, your own provider key (BYOK), or a saved connection.
2. Write a message and hit **Preview**. The draft goes to the app server for scanning — no model provider is called.
3. Inspect the exact JSON request: model, instructions, and conversation context. Detected personal information becomes placeholders; detected secrets are withheld.
4. **Send** approves the stored request. The provider reads the cleaned request you saw.

BYOK keys live in browser memory for the tab and are sent to the app server only inside the approved request. Guests can inspect requests or supply their own key; hosted access requires authentication via [/login](https://barestate.xyz/login).
